Classroom Technology Quick Guide
Logging Into the Computers
The computers at the podiums should be logged in automatically. If you prefer to use your own account, you can log out of the podium and in with your own account. If a computer is not logged in, restart it and it will log in automatically. Don't forget to logout if you use your own account.
Starting the Projector:
- Touch the projector control screen (above, right)
- Touch an input and drag it into the screen area in the center of the controller
- The keyboard icon (left) indicates that the projector will display what is on the pc in the room
Connecting Your Own Computer:
You can connect your own computer to the projector system in two different ways:
- Connect via hardwire:
- Plug the VGA or HDMI cord into your computer (above, left). If using the HDMI cable, you will have to plug the audio jack into your computer's speaker input.
- On the projector control panel, drag your selected input (HDMI, VGA, etc.) into the center of the screen.
- Connect via AirMedia
- On the projector control panel, drag the Wireless Gateway icon (left) into the center of the screen.
- Follow the directions on the screen. You will need to be connected to the Cambridge College wifi and enter the IP address into your web browser.
Connecting a USB:
There are two USB ports inside the port box in the middle of the table (above, left). You can plug a flash drive or any other USB device into those and connect to the room computer. The computer will recognize your flash drive and open it, or you can find it by clicking on the Windows button and looking for 'This PC'.
DVD player:
We have plug-and-play DVD players available at the IT HelpDesk (room 1260). Reserve one through the A/V request page or stop by and pick it up. To use it in a classroom, plug it into one of the USB ports in the table. It may launch automatically, or you may have to click the Windows button followed by 'This PC.'
Video Camera:
Rooms are equippped with video cameras that can be used to record lectures, meetings, etc. You can start this camera by dragging the camera icon (left) into the screen area on the projector control panel. You will be able to see the camera recording on the projector.
To control the camera:
- Click the 'Camera Controls' button on the bottom center of the projector controller. The control screen will pop up (above, right).
- Use the magnifying glass to zoom in and out, and the arrows to pan and tilt the camera.
- Hold the preset buttons to set the camera presets to certain locations.
Powering Off the System
When you are done with the system, or at the end of your event, you do not have to turn the computer off. However, you should power down the projector system by clicking the 'power off' icon (left). You will then need to confirm the shut down. The system will close the screen and power down the projector.
