Bay Path University has acquired Cambridge College, bringing our institutions together to expand educational opportunity. As part of this transition, Cambridge College is no longer able to admit students or confer degrees as a standalone institution. Bay Path University recognizes the significant role Cambridge College has played in helping adult learners achieve their educational goals. We are committed to honoring the legacy of Cambridge College while building an even stronger future for the learners and communities we serve. As part of this commitment, the former Cambridge College Boston and Cambridge College Puerto Rico Regional Centers have been named Cambridge College at Bay Path University.
Prospective students are encouraged to explore the academic programs formerly offered by Cambridge College that are now available through Bay Path University. These programs provide learners with the opportunity to continue pursuing their educational and career goals as part of Bay Path University’s expanded academic offerings. Former Cambridge College students who were enrolled within the last five years and are eligible to attest that they would like to transfer to Bay Path University are encouraged to do so by May 5, 2027. Bay Path University remains committed to welcoming former Cambridge College students after this date; however, degree program availability may differ, and transfer credits may not be accepted. Former students are strongly encouraged to connect with their academic advisors to explore their options and choose the path that best supports their academic goals.
Accreditation
Cambridge College is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, NEASC).
Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the Commission indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied though a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation.
Accreditation by the Commission is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole. As such, it is not a guarantee of every course or program offered or the competence of individual graduates. Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities available to students who attend the institution.

Massachusetts
All of Cambridge College’s degree programs were authorized by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education. Cambridge College programs preparing students for educator licensure were approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and were subject to its regulations and standards, and are now approved and subject to its standards under Bay Path University programs.
On September 7, 2026, Bay Path University announced the completion of its integration of Cambridge College, which brings Cambridge College’s academic programs, students, faculty, and staff into Bay Path University. The milestone marks a significant moment in the University’s history and expands its student population to more than 5,000 learners across Massachusetts, Puerto Rico, and beyond. The U.S. Department of Education’s final approval marks the culmination of a two-year process that began in February 2024, when Bay Path University and Cambridge College jointly announced that Bay Path would acquire Cambridge College.
As a formal process, the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (Department) will open a comment period regarding the revocation of Cambridge College's degree-granting authority in the Commonwealth. Puerto Rico
Cambridge College is authorized to operate and offer selected degree programs by the Puerto Rico Board of Higher Education Institutions under the Department of State, and the graduate education programs are also recognized by the Puerto Rico Department of Education and the Puerto Rico Board of Professional Counselors under the Puerto Rico Health Department.
