Student Health Insurance

Massachusetts law requires students to enroll in their college’s student health insurance plan or participate in a plan with comparable coverage. If you have any questions please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

Required for Students Who Are:

  • Attending classes within Massachusetts, and
  • Enrolled in a degree or certificate program, and
  • Enrolled full-time or three-quarter time (undergraduate: 9 credits or more; graduate: 6 credits or more, as of last day of the add/drop period.)

See important current information and enroll.
Students who have insurance with comparable coverage may waive out of student health insurance by submitting an annual petition to waive by the term deadline.

Petition to Waive

When
Your petition to waive must be submitted in the first term of enrollment and every fall term thereafter. Students returning after a leave of absence must submit the waiver request in the term when they return.

Term Deadlines - Last day to waive health insurance:

  • for Fall 2015 term only - September 15
  • for Spring 2016 term only - January 26
  • for Summer 2016 term only - June 13

How to Waive
See Health Insurance and follow online instructions and external link to submit your petition to waive.

In so doing, you grant permission for the insurance provider to audit your insurance information, and if it is found to be falsified, inactive, or non-comparable to Massachusetts criteria, you will be enrolled in the insurance plan and will be charged the full insurance premium.

If you have problems logging on or with the website, please contact Gallagher Koster customer service at 800-457-5599.

Cost
Students who do not submit an annual waiver request by the deadline are automatically enrolled in and charged for the College’s student health insurance plan.
Coverage is based on a plan year beginning September 1st and ending August 31st.  Once enrolled, students are covered for the remainder of the plan year.
The cost of insurance is as follows:

Spring 2016: Jan - Aug 2016 $1,239 $1,419
Summer 2016: June - Aug 2016 $478 $546

Insurance Optional

Students taking fewer credits, or attending Cambridge College locations outside Massachusetts, are not required to purchase student health insurance but are welcome to do so by contacting the Office of the Bursar.
