Carson Berglund named Cambridge College Vice President

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Carson Berglund as Vice President for Institutional Advancement effective July 6, 2015. In this role, Carson will oversee the office of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations. Carson brings to this role an impressive professional background with over twenty-five years of experience in development in the non-profit sector.

For the last seven years, Carson has served as Vice President, Development at Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) in Boston, MA, where he was responsible for development strategy and fundraising for a 77-year old non-profit focused on education and workforce development. At JVS, Carson helped JVS grow its budget from $5 million in 2007 to over $11 million in 2015. He raised nearly $1 million per year from foundations and individuals over the last six years to seed and sustain the Bridges to College program, an innovative college access and success model for adult learners carried out in partnership with Bunker Hill Community College, Quincy College and Mass. Bay Community College. Carson also co-led the agency’s capital campaign, raising nearly $3 million toward a $6 million goal to support construction and operation of the new JVS Center for Economic Opportunity in Boston’s Financial District.

Prior to JVS, Carson worked at the Boston History & Innovation Collaborative and Jobs for the Future, where he was instrumental in developing and funding new areas of work for these organizations.  At Jobs for the Future, Carson helped raise funds to increase its budget from $5 million to $14 million over a seven-year period and worked with major national foundations such as Gates, Mott, Ford, Lumina, Carnegie and Annie E. Casey to implement national initiatives such as School-to-Work Apprenticeship, Breaking Through, and Early College High School.

Carson holds a Bachelor of Arts, Government from the University of Texas, Austin and held a graduate fellowship in Political Theory at the Johns Hopkins University Department of Political Science, Baltimore, MD. Carson brings to Cambridge College a wealth of experience and a strong foundation for understanding and addressing the development needs for the College. He will play a key leadership role in strengthening Cambridge College’s financial resources and positioning the college for future growth.
