About Amelia Estwick

Amelia Estwick is the director of the National Cybersecurity Institute at Excelsior College and a thought leader for the College’s cybersecurity research, training, and academic initiatives.   Prior to her academic position, she worked 17 years for the National Security Agency (NSA) in various technical leadership positions to include Technical Director within NSA’s Cyber Threat Operations Center which is responsible for monitoring and securing Department of Defense (DoD) networks against cyberattacks. 

Dr. Estwick has more than 20 years of government IT experience working in the areas of computer science, cybersecurity, information assurance, and computer network operations. She has been an adjunct professor for several online universities and has taught courses in Risk Management, Cybersecurity Ethics, Information Assurance, Advanced Cybercrime Analysis, and Digital Forensics. 

Dr. Estwick earned her BS in Computer Information Systems from Southern University at New Orleans and her MS and PhD in Computer Science from the George Washington University.  She is a National Physical Sciences Consortium Fellow, a U.S. Army Gulf-War Veteran (specialized in Information Security) and is passionate about diversity and inclusion initiatives to include increasing the pipeline for women and minority professionals in STEM, IT, and Cybersecurity fields.  Dr. Estwick is VP of the Women in Cybersecurity Mid-Atlantic Affiliate and was recently recognized as one of the Top 100 Women Know Cyber by Cybersecurity Ventures.
