We are delighted to share highlights from the recent Sigma Beta Delta Induction Ceremony held at the Cambridge College Boston campus. Hosted by Cambridge College at Bay Path University and led by the School of Management & Technology faculty, President Doran, honored guests, and John A. Brennan, Professor and Cambridge College Sigma Beta Delta Chapter President, the ceremony recognized exceptional students and community leaders for their academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to excellence.
Sigma Beta Delta is the international honor society for business, management, and administration. Membership is by invitation and recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and leadership potential within their business programs. As one of the highest academic honors available to business students, induction into Sigma Beta Delta reflects a commitment to scholarship, integrity, and professional excellence.
The ceremony featured a message from President Sandra J. Doran, who reflected on the society's guiding principles of wisdom, honor, and aspiration. She encouraged inductees to carry these values forward throughout their personal and professional lives. MBA Program Director Dr. Gina M. Moore recognized the determination, resilience, and leadership demonstrated by the inductees throughout their academic journeys. Dr. Laurie A. Rosner, Associate Dean of the School of Management and Technology and a member of the doctoral honor society Beta Gamma Sigma, noted that the values embodied by Sigma Beta Delta align closely with Bay Path University's mission of preparing ethical, innovative, and impactful leaders.
An especially memorable moment came through the inspiring keynote message prepared by Dr. Dean Saluti. Although Dr. Saluti was unable to attend the ceremony, his wife and devoted teaching assistant, Marjorie Cahn, graciously delivered his remarks. Dr. Saluti reflected on the transformative power of education by sharing these closing words, “On a personal note, let me tell you why graduate education is so important to me. I was 12 years old. It was a Sunday afternoon. I will never forget – I was wearing my little white Easter suit – I was very little – I still am! My parents asked me to go to visit my grandmother Alfonsina, and I drove over on my bicycle. My grandmother was sitting at the kitchen table. She went to the freezer – top part of the refrigerator – and took out a frozen chocolate Hershey bar. I remember they always tasted better cold. Hershey bars always looked so big to me then. My grandmother sat down and put her face in her hands and started crying. I asked her what was wrong and she said that she was ashamed and that I too should be ashamed of her. She explained that she could not read or write. She said that she would give me the candy bar if I would promise to continue to study hard in school. That did it – I didn’t want to let her down. Inductees – congratulations from all your faculty.”
In a touching tribute, Marjorie distributed Hershey's candy bars to those in attendance before sharing Dr. Saluti's challenge to the inductees: “honors and achievements are sweet, but their true value lies in how we use our talents to serve others, lead with integrity, and continue striving for excellence.” Dr. Saluti had a heart attack days before the event, he wanted to even delay his open heart surgery to give his keynote speech. Dr. Dean is recovering nicely and is now teaching a summer MBA course at our Boston campus! Dr. Saluti was also recognized for his many years of service and unwavering dedication to the students of Cambridge College, a dedication that exemplifies the commitment of all School of Management & Technology faculty and adjunct professors. Marjorie was also thanked for her dedication as she has attended every class with Dr. Dean as his TA and shares in the care for our students.

In addition, last year's keynote speaker, Joyce Clark, a distinguished alumna and Sigma Beta Delta member, was recognized with an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters for her exemplary leadership, service, and impact within her community. Joyce continues to embody the values and aspirations that Sigma Beta Delta seeks to inspire.
John Ramsburgh, Director of Advancement and Foundation Relations, offered praise for the ceremony and its impact. He said, “Several alumni approached me to express how much they enjoyed the program, and I spoke with the families of the inductees, who were also moved by the speakers and testimonials. For me, it marked the high point after a year of steadily stronger programs hosted at the Cambridge College Rutherford campus. Kudos to the team for such a lovely event!”
We extend our gratitude to the faculty, staff, families, and friends who joined us in celebrating this special occasion. We are incredibly proud of our newest Sigma Beta Delta members and honorary inductees and look forward to the many contributions they will make as leaders in their professions, organizations, and communities.
