Marketing and Communications Coordinator Job Description

Job Summary

This full-time marketing communications position contributes to the development of publications and websites, facilitates marketing campaigns, schedule meetings with media outlets and vendors, and help plan events. This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Digital Strategy, and the Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Public Relations.  The coordinator performs a variety of specialized communications, marketing and social media administrative functions to increase the College’s visibility through the development and distribution of information and materials.  Some evening and weekend work is required.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and analyze marketing and recruitment strategies for each of the four schools, including print, advertising, website, advertising, digital marketing, paid search engines, and sponsorship events.
  • Develop, manage and maintain a master marketing and advertisement tracking calendar and develop tracking reports to monitor the effectiveness of ad placements. 
  • Plan, manage and execute the College’s social media calendar and platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo and SnapChat.
  • Manage and implement written and visual/multimedia content for digital ads, social media networks, and the web).
  • Maintain advertising campaign budgets for the main campus and 4 regional centers including print, radio, outdoor, online, TV, direct mail, email campaigns and other marketing collateral as approved by the Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Public Relations.
  • Assist with the planning, management and implementation of digital and programmatic marketing and communication strategies for target audiences based on the standard market research data results.
  • Assist with the analytics and tracking of all marketing campaigns, including HubSpot, Google Analytics and SEO, etc.
  • Manage all print, radio, outdoor, online and other advertising with graphic designers to ensure graphics and data specifications for advertisements are met.
  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Digital Strategies to review, evaluate and maintain all advertising, marketing and other vendor contracts.
  • Work with Regional Directors, VP of Innovation and Strategic Initiatives and VP of Marketing Communications and Public Relations to coordinate, implement and promote marketing and advertising programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and key vendors responsible for the production and delivery of advertising to ensure timely and on-budget delivery of scheduled advertisements.
  • Responsible for posting College-related announcements, upcoming events, news, and activities for all regional centers and main campus, as approved by the VP of Marketing Communications and Public Relations.
  • Field incoming calls from vendors regarding marketing opportunities to review and determine viability with the Director of Marketing & Digital Strategy, and the Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Public Relations.
  • Manage CC Shop and maintain statistical and financial records, oversee pricing and stock control, prepare and display merchandise
  • Provide outstanding customer service to the College and its departments, centers and institutes and professionally represent Cambridge College in all business interactions and settings.
  • Participate in committees and other forums that address the role of marketing at the College.
  • Provide support on and/or lead other projects as assigned by the Director of Marketing & Digital Strategy and the Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Public Relations

Other Duties/Responsibilities

  • Strong project management expertise, detail oriented with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrate strong oral, writing and editing skills and good aesthetic judgment. Firm grasp of both internal and external branding and marketing concepts, techniques, and the ability to craft and implement strategies focused on marketing objectives and goals.
  • Review and process invoices received from vendors and send to Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Public Relations for approvals.
  • Ability to implement the strategic us of new media to complement and enhance traditional print communications channels.
  • Assist in the planning of campus events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with various media and vendors
  • Manage work flow on a daily and weekly basis to meet advertising and event deadlines.
  • Maintain and evaluate all media kits and rate cards and identify potential advertising opportunities for all regional centers and main campus
  • Oversee the daily delivery of art/print/electronic media to vendors
  • Attend staff meetings as required by the supervisor.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant advertising and social media practices
  • Other duties may be assigned as need arises.

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required, in marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, or related fields
  • 2-4 years’ experience working in related fields
  • Proven project management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and Hubspot is required.  Familiarity with MediaPlan HQ, MailChimp, WorkZone and CMS systems is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English; proficiency in written and oral Spanish; multiple languages a plus

Skills & Knowledge Required

Excellent oral and written communications skills required.  Detail-oriented, strong sensitivity to deadlines, multitasking ability, strong organizational and problem-solving skills a must. Familiarity with MS Office software and strong online skills.  Familiarity with the advertising contracts and accounts payable process. Proofreading and copy editing skills. Must have the ability to work independently within a team-based dynamic.  Always treats fellow employees, students, and the institution’s guests with civility, and refrains from actions that disrupt the efficient functioning of the College.  Demonstrated ability to follow directions and complete tasks accurately and accept supervisory input and constructive criticism.

Physical Effort Required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk, hear, and effectively communicate with others in person and in writing. The employee is required to be mobile. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to see others and read documents.  This job requires the employee to spend lengthy periods of time performing computer assisted work.
