Beginning in June 2015, Cambridge College is proud to offer the Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency (MTELP) to our international applicants. This test is accepted by all programs at Cambridge College as a method for demonstrating sufficient English language proficiency for matriculation.
How do I sign up to take the MTELP?
To sign up for the exam, students should complete the test-taker application form. Payment can be accepted in the Bursar's Office prior to the exam or students may bring payment on the day of the exam. See acceptable methods of payment below.
How much does the MTELP cost?
The cost is $75 per test. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, bank/certified cheques and money orders are acceptable forms of payment. No cash or personal cheques accepted.
How long does the MTELP take?
The test itself takes approximately 70 minutes. However, with set-up and grading, you should plan to be at Cambridge College for about 90 minutes, in total. Please show up promptly at the scheduled start-time! This will help us stick to the schedule.
Do I need to apply to Cambridge College before I take the test?
Students are welcome to sit for the exam prior to submitting a Cambridge College application. Please let us know before or after the test if you would like to meet with our Admissions staff to learn more about the application process!
Where can I use my MTELP score?
Your MTELP score is applicable for admission to any Cambridge College degree or certificate program. It cannot be used as demonstration of English language proficiency at any other institution.
How many times can I take the MTELP?
You are allowed to sit for the MTELP a total of three times. If you do not earn a passing score after the third attempt, you must demonstrate sufficient English language proficiency in another way. Acceptable demonstration of English language proficiency can be found here.
I have questions! Whom do I contact?
