Dean for the School of Management Job Description

Job Summary

Cambridge College seeks a strategic and entrepreneurial Dean for the School of Management. The Dean will be a visionary leader and driver that can quickly grasp the challenges and opportunities for the School of Management and devise and deliver programming to meet the needs of Cambridge College’s students and the organizations that employ them. The Dean will be focused on the adult learner segment of higher education and leading turnaround, expansion, and transformation of the School of Management.

Reporting to the Provost, and working in a matrixed organization, the Dean will lead a team of full-time and adjunct faculty and staff in developing and delivering academic and skill development programs to meet employer needs for a diverse and talented workforce.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report to and partner with the Provost in growing enrollments and setting the vision and academic direction for the School of Management.
  • Work with Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and others to better understand employer needs and build degree- and non-degree programs and partnerships to better meet these needs.
  • Work with the Dean of Online Programs and others to develop and execute an online strategy for the School of Management and ensure key courses are available in online and hybrid formats
  • Develop and implement any organizational changes in support of the new strategic direction of the school
  • Oversee the School of Management programs and faculty at the four Regional Centers
  • Recruit and develop faculty and work with them to deliver a series of skills-focused degree and non-degree programs.
  • Develop and enforce academic policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure high and uniform quality for programs, courses, and learning outcomes.
  • Recruit and develop administrative staff focused on delivering high-quality service to students and faculty.

Qualifications

  • Business and/or academic leader with a track record of building strong teams; a self-starter who seeks and seizes opportunity
  • Leader who celebrates and engages in the mission and values of Cambridge College
  • Keen understanding of the management education market and the adult learner space
  • Experience with online education
  • Familiarity with the Boston business and education landscape strongly preferred
  • Outstanding relationship building and collaboration skills to work with a diverse constituency
  • Knowledge of best practices and the ability to apply them in innovative ways
  • Strong managerial experience that demonstrates the ability to lead, coach, and develop staff
  • Master’s degree or above
