Associate Manager, Communications and Partnerships Job Description

Job Summary

This full time Associate Manager position contributes to the development, management and execution of key department projects for the Office of Marketing, Communications and Public Relations.

Office of Marketing, Communications and Publications projects includes but not limited to:

  • Design and production of marketing collateral and creatives;
  • Design, print and distribution of departmental event-related fliers and program books; and
  • Support and assist the Office of the President with communications with the Board of Trustees

Office of Strategic Partnerships projects will include but not limited to:

  • Assisting with execution of career fairs;
  • Support for activities related to employer engagement;
  • Corporate research and outreach;
  • Assistance with corporate relationship management; and
  • Support for securing corporate sponsorship.

The ideal candidate would have experience scoping, resourcing and managing all aspects of project delivery including coordinating with internal departments and external resources. Serving as the liaison for assigned projects, this individual will be responsible for efficiently coordinating and executing deliverables for the Office of Marketing, Communications and Publications and the Office of Strategic Partnership. A degree in marketing, communication, journalism, is preferred. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Office of Marketing, Communications and Public Relations

  • Manage the design and production of marketing materials for events from the Office of the President and Office of Strategic Partnerships
  • Design and produce the alumni magazine, Connections, including managing vendors
  • Assist with the monitoring of requested projects through the online project management software, WorkZone only as needed.
  • Manage updates and upload content on the college website and the intranet, as needed
  • Assist with public relations initiatives including writing and editing press releases
  • Manage outside consultants and vendors as needed for print materials related to Commencement and the Honorary dinner
  • Act as liaison between the College and keynote speakers for commencement and events for the Office of the President, including collecting bios, photos and any relevant content as needed
  • Support the Communications team to ensure overall adherence to the college’s style brand guidelines

Office of Strategic Partnerships

  • Support the development and execution of projects for career and professional development initiatives
  • Provide support and oversight for events including but not limited to: career fairs, career development workshops, and professional information sessions
  • Support and lead the development of collateral and other products related to career and career development events
  • Oversee approval process required for space use and the utilization of external resources/consultants related to career events
  • Maintain all related files and documents created for career based events and programs for historical purposes
  • Support the Institutional Research office’s efforts to capture pre and post event statistics
  • Support and gather research on corporate partners
  • Serve as liaison between internal stakeholders and external partners in support of corporate partnership efforts

Other Duties/Responsibilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management expertise, detail oriented with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrate strong oral, writing and editing skills and good aesthetic judgment. Firm grasp of both internal and external branding and marketing concepts, techniques, and the ability to craft and implement strategies focused on marketing objectives and goals.
  • Ability to implement the strategic use of new media to complement and enhance traditional print communications channels.
  • Manage work flow on a daily and weekly basis to meet advertising and event deadlines.
  • Create and deploy e-mail blasts for special events
  • Other duties as assigned by both the Vice President of Partnerships and Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Public Relations

Education & Experience Required 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 3-4 years of experience in a strategic partnership and communications role,
  • High comfort level working with top-level executives and professionals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills including attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Proficient in Adobe Create Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver)
  • Must possess working knowledge of social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and strong familiarity with the web, email marketing and content management programs (html, Flash, WordPress, Constant Contact) and HubSpot
  • Self-starter with a can do attitude and intense desire to excel
  • In-depth knowledge of design, electronic composition, demonstrated success in leading a creative process, and ability to work as part of a team

Skills & Knowledge Required

Excellent oral and written communications skills required.  Detail-oriented, strong sensitivity to deadlines, multitasking ability, strong organizational and problem-solving skills a must. Familiarity with InDesign, MS Office software and strong online skills.  Proofreading and copy editing skills.  Must have the ability to work independently within a team-based dynamic.  Always treats fellow employees, students, and the institution’s guests with civility, and refrains from actions that disrupt the efficient functioning of the College.  Demonstrated ability to follow directions and complete tasks accurately and accept supervisory input and constructive criticism.

Physical Effort Required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk, hear, and effectively communicate with others in person and in writing. The employee is required to be mobile. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to see others and read documents.  This job requires the employee to spend lengthy periods of time performing computer assisted work.
