Admissions Counselor - Springfield, MA Job Description

Job Summary

The Admissions Counselor works to increase inquiries, secure applications, and convert applications into enrolled students throughout the region. Inquiries are garnered through information sessions, outreaches to school systems, attending conferences, referrals, business development by calling directly into businesses and organizations as well as aggressively responding to student inquiries while providing superior customer service to prospective students in the "high touch" tradition of Cambridge College. The Admissions Counselor must have the ability to multi-task and reach or exceed their goal, taking prospective students through the process from inquiry through enrollment while building partnerships with local organizations to promote Cambridge College and create brand visibility in the regional market. NOTE: A flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and some weekends is required. A valid driver's license, travel and access to a vehicle are necessary. Excellent communication, data entry, customer service and sales skills are required.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Work as a member of a team and contribute to a team enrollment goal by converting new prospects, leads and applicants into registered students through frequent phone, email, text and mail correspondence
  • Build relationships with students and determine the correct program fit for students' career and personal goals and follow them through the registration process
  • Host information sessions, workshops and community outreach events to promote awareness of Cambridge College.
  • Ability to work on a registration deadline, meet required enrollment goals and use a consultative sales approach to recruit students to the Cambridge College.
  • Ability to work independently, and as a member of a team.
  • Should have an understanding of programs offered at other colleges in the area.
  • Attend team meetings and keep accurate records on progress of all applicants.
  • Must be culturally competent
  • Spanish speaking encouraged to apply

Other Duties/Responsibilities

  • Utilize Jenzabar and JRM (Salesforce) to assemble data for business development call lists
  • Maintain admissions files for each new student
  • Attend training sessions to receive updated information about new programs services, educator licensure requirements, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Required

Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred; two to five years experience in recruiting, account management and sales. Knowledge of higher education encouraged; professional attire and professional presentation required daily.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Excellent verbal communication skills required to make presentations at information sessions, when meeting with prospective students and speaking with potential partnership organizations; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the Internet as a tool is needed to conduct research, create correspondence and develop presentations for outreach; exceptional project and time management skills required; goal oriented and intrinsically motivated with superior customer service and networking skills; ability to manage databases JRM (Salesforce) student files and rosters via the Jenzabar system; ability to work in a team setting.

Physical Effort Required

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 70 lbs. to carry presentation and display materials to conferences, workshops, and other information sessions
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to stretch and reach above one's head to set up display
