Academic Advisor (CC Global) Job Description

Job Description

CCG Academic Advisors work directly with the student population to ensure they are helping students achieve their educational goals here at the college in a way that promotes student retention and satisfaction. Academic Advisors are the primary contact point for students with the college and are responsible for working cross-functionally with other departments at the college to meet students’ needs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Advise a caseload of 300+ students pursuing an Undergraduate degree.
  • Maintain communication schedule of student outreach (via phone and email)
  • Assist students with program planning, course selection, and navigating their degree
  • Maintain a student tracking cohort to chart student statuses/progress
  • Responsible for meeting retention goals
  • Work closely with the Admissions Team to onboard new students
  • Complete projects and retention reports when assigned
  • Maintain online Student Resource Center (found in Canvas LMS)
  • Participate on internal committees.
  • Work with At-Risk students who are not meeting SAP and ensure they are following their Academic Plans
  • Work interdependently with other Academic Advisors, Registrar’s Office, Student Financial Services Team, Academic Team, and Faculty to meet students’ needs.

Other Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Work closely with faculty in following up with at risk students (as identified by instructors) by phone/email as required.
  • Provide program related support to the Dean and program chairs as needed.

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years higher education experience in educational and/or career advising with adult students.     

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Must have strong desire to help students achieve success and meet their personal goals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be flexible
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize work
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Strong background using Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Experience with Jenzabar Student Management System a plus
  • Creative problem-solving ability
  • Excellent organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be an effective team player.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks accurately and accept supervisory input.
  • Ability to manage stress and work under pressure while multitasking under deadlines.
  • Commitment to high standard of providing assistance to students and working with other departments to service our students efficiently to provide overall student satisfaction and educational success at the college

Physical Effort Required

The candidate is required to be mobile and occasionally lift and/or move to 40-50 pounds.
