Sacred Heart School announced Plymouth resident Marie Kenniston Bruninghaus (MEd '03) as recipient of the 2019 Caritas Award. Bruninghaus, a member of the Sacred Heart High School Class of 1983, was selected for the annual honor for being a dedicated alumnus, teacher and friend to the Sacred Heart School community. After graduating from Sacred Heart, Bruninghaus went on to Bridgewater State University where she received a degree in physical education, following which she returned to Sacred Heart as a member of the athletic department. Her responsibilities include teaching health and physical education to students in grades 7 through 10, coaching basketball, field hockey and softball. Bruninghaus continued her education, earning a Master's of Education in 2003 from Cambridge College. She holds certifications as a registered athletic administrator and a registered middle school athletic administrator and is a member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. "I have met so many intelligent, talented and caring people as a member of the Sacred Heart family," said Bruninghaus. "I am grateful and thankful to have known everyone who has walked the halls, taught, and played on the fields and courts. While it's an honor to receive this award, it's been an even greater honor to participate in this outstanding community." "She is the very epitome of dedication; resolute and committed to the many students she has taught and coached over the years and to the Sacred Heart community in total." Sacred Heart will honor Bruninghaus at the school's 2019 Gala, to be held on April 6 at Indian Pond Country Club, 60 Country Club Way, Kingston.
