50 Reasons

Cambridge College has been a pioneer and continued leader in adult learning for 50 years, with a mission to provide access to high quality education to working adults for whom those opportunities may have been limited or denied. We’ve helped students get the credentials they need to improve their lives, their communities and the world. Our more than 30,000 alumni are the best evidence of the quality and value of a Cambridge College education.

There are countless reasons that make Cambridge College an extraordinary educational institute and a committed partner in bringing social, racial, educational and economic justice to our communities.

As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary over the next 12 months, we will share 50 of those reasons here.

Reason #1: Founding Mission

Cambridge College was founded on the principle of providing access to high quality education to working adults for whom opportunities may have been limited or denied. We have remained true to this mission from 1971 to this day.

Reason #2: Transforming Lives

With over 50 years of proven success in delivering high-quality education, we are excited to share the stories of how a Cambridge College education has transformed lives of students and adult learners across the state and country. See more examples of how our alumni have gone on to positively impact their societies in our Alumni Profiles.

Reason #3: Hispanic Community

Many of the faculty, staff, and students at Cambridge College take great pride in their Hispanic and LatinX heritage. Every year Cambridge College celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month to recognize the histories, cultures and many contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Read more about our connection to Hispanic Heritage Month and the many ways our community supports Latin American countries. Reason #4: The Cambridge College Difference

We’re a small school with a large reach and big impact. At Cambridge College, we believe higher education should be relational, not transactional; and we center our educational services in quality, affordability, and accessibility so that you can make your career goals a reality. Our innovative educational model is inclusive, student-centered, and career-oriented. Our experienced faculty will guide and inspire you to gain essential skills and knowledge through our rigorous curricula and supportive, interactive classes. Reason #5: Military Friendly™ School

Cambridge College takes great pride in supporting our military and service members. From tuition benefits to counseling services, our military assistance helps support veterans and their families as they enter the next stage of their successful careers. We have been recognized as a Military Friendly™ School for 12 consecutive years, and are a Yellow Ribbon participant school. Learn more about our military tuition assistance and services here.

Reason #6: Our Alumni Community

Support for Cambridge College equates to support for our extensive student and alumni community. In addition to hosting a number of annual virtual and in-person alumni events, Cambridge College loves to spotlight our graduates through alumni profiles and archival images. With nearly 40,000 members of our alumni community, your educational journey at Cambridge College includes joining this growing family. Read the diverse array of alumni stories in our alumni profiles.

Reason #7: Innovation

Innovation is one of our core values at Cambridge College, with a purpose to develop and deliver distinctive and value-driven academic programs that are flexible and responsive to local, national, and international needs. This includes our early adoption of delivering high-quality and accessible online programs designed to meet learners where they are. Additionally, part of this innovation includes continually looking ahead for emerging degrees, such as our cybersecurity programs. It is our mission to make sure the same innovation in our classrooms is brought into the community as our alumni contribute to their communities. Learn more about our mission and values here.

Reason #8: Community Health & Wellness

More now than ever, the emphasis on health and wellness has taken center stage in how we look at our communities and populations across the state and country. At Cambridge College, in addition to a Health & Wellness Promotion program, we provide programs intended to educate on the wide variety of health-focused studies, including Human Services, Healthcare Management, Early Childhood Ed, Psychology, and others – all with a focus on the holistic and multicultural approaches to wellbeing. Additionally, as our graduates re-enter their communities with new tools to advance healthier living, they contribute to the overall health in their neighborhoods and communities. Learn more about how our undergraduate studies promote the inclusion of health and wellness in our course schedule.

Reason #9: Black and African-American Community

February is Black History Month and a time of great enthusiasm at Cambridge College. We are proud to have such a diverse student population and are a leader in awarding master’s degrees in business to African-American students.  Our president, Deborah Jackson, is one of the few Black female leaders of a higher education institution in Massachusetts, with her vision and commitment to success driving most of what we do as an institution. Additionally, we were one of the first schools in Massachusetts to participate in the Mandela Washington Fellowship with the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), though which African leaders gained the skills and connections at Cambridge College to accelerate their own careers and strengthen the foundations of their home country.  You can learn more about these twenty-five Mandela Washington Fellows here.
