Students from Winchester send gift bags

students receive gift bags

Ms. Maggie Jackson is a fifth grade teacher in the Winchester Public School System. She had been leading a program called “Girls on the Run”. As the final project, the girls decided they wanted to make gift bags for children in Puerto Rico who had been affected by Hurricane Maria.

Maggie reached out and eventually was connected with Dr. Santiago Mendez, director of CC-Puerto Rico. Santiago was more than happy to identify Mayaguez Academy in Western Puerto Rico which was particularly devastated by the hurricane. This school serves mostly students with disabilities. Before long, boxes arrived from Ms. Jackson’s group of young girls. Santiago and his colleagues delivered the gift bags to the students and reported that the students were very emotional and happy to receive them.

Thank you to Ms. Jackson and her students for their efforts and kindness.
