Meet Vera

Vera Dimoplon has worked with persons with disabilities for over twenty years as a direct care provider, as a teacher, and as an advocate. She has had the opportunity to work with people with disabilities of all ages, and with a variety of diagnoses. She will take the time to learn about the challenges which might be interfering with your academic performance and work to find accommodations that will help you excel academically, as well as professionally. If you ever have a concern or question, please reach out to her right away.

The Office of Disability Support works with faculty, staff, students, and employees to ensure equal access and opportunity at Cambridge College.

Faculty and Student Rights and Responsibilities – Disability Services

Any decision regarding accommodations is a collaborative undertaking. The Office of Disability Support coordinates support for students with disabilities and assists in:

• Academic accommodation
• Referrals
• Adapted classroom activities
• Alternative text
• Coordination of outside providers
• Other special needs

Note: It is the responsibility of the student to self-disclose disability and to request assistance by filling out a Student Application for Accommodations.

Request Accommodations

Many accommodations take time to arrange and should be requested in advance. Students are encouraged to make requests for accommodations prior to the beginning of the semester. To initiate services please complete the following steps:

1. Fill out a Student Application for Accommodations Form
2. Submit Clinical Documentation (either via the form above, email, or US mail) to the Office of Disability Support. This could be from a primary care doctor, a therapist, VA, or other medical professional that indicates your diagnosis, the functional limitations you face (how your academics are impacted) as well as suggestions they have for accommodations. It also needs to be on official letterhead and signed by the medical professional.
3. Meet with the Office of Disability Support to discuss accommodation needs. Meetings should be in-person whenever possible, if students are located at the regional campuses, meetings via zoom/skype or phone call are acceptable.
4. Students are provided with an accommodation letter to give to their professors. Student are instructed to have a conversation with each professor regarding the implementation of their approved accommodations.
