Understanding the Challenge                                                           Scheduled Date(s)

Launch and Scoping Meetings
Review the search process and timeline. Discuss the challenges, opportunities, and objectives for the position and begin developing a profile of the ideal candidate. Meetings with major stakeholders as well as the Search Committee.

Weeks of 4/24-5/5

   

Profile and Challenge Statement Review
Share and discuss results of Isaacson, Miller (IM) conversations with the Search Committee.

Review the draft position profile with the Search Committee.

Week of 5/19

   

Finalize Position Profile and Search Schedule
Final approval of the position description and the ad by the Search Committee. Isaacson, Miller begins to solicit suggestions of sources and candidates.

Week of 5/26

Networking & Screening of Prospective Candidates

Progress Call
Check in by IM with Search Committee on the progress of the search. This is also an opportunity to share insights gleaned from initial networking and to review models for the ideal candidate.

June 23

Narrowing the Field

Meeting to Discuss and Review Preliminary Candidate Pool
Presentation of preliminary candidates, on paper, with Search Committee. Some of these candidates IM will have telephone screened. The goal of this meeting is to reconfirm position profile, prioritize skills and attributes needed, and review profile types emerging in pool. Search Committee (SC) gives IM direction about individuals about whom SC wants more information.    

August 5

   

Meeting to Discuss and Review Candidate Pool
Presentation of preliminary candidates, on paper, with Search Committee. Some of these candidates IM will have telephone screened. The goal of this meeting is to identify individuals for IM to interview.       

September 2
   

Meeting with Search Committee to Review Interviews by Isaacson, Miller
Presentation of full candidate pool, on paper, to the search committee. These candidates will have been interviewed in person by IM and we will have impressions and recommendations. Search Committee decides on pool of candidates to interview.

October 7

Selecting Finalists & Checking References

Semi-Finalist Interviews
Semi-finalists are seen by the Search Committee (usually 6 -10 people). At the conclusion of the interviews the Search Committee will decide which individuals will be invited for Campus Visits and for whom IM will conduct reference checks (usually 3 individuals)

Checking References
IM conducts extensive references on each candidate and reports findings to the Client.

October

   

Campus Visits
Client arranges meetings for the finalists with members of the campus community and key stakeholders, equally evaluating each candidate and selling the organization. Usually up to 3 individuals.

Early November

The Final Choice     

Final Selection
Client reviews all references and evaluation materials and selects its preferred candidate.

Mid November

   

Negotiations/Offer/Acceptance
