Federal Financial Aid Eligibility

To be eligible to receive federal or state financial aid, students must:

  • Be U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens of the United States with valid Social Security number. International students are not eligible.
  • Enroll in a degree program or eligible certificate program.
  • Enroll at least half-time: Graduate students must be enrolled in at least four credits/term, undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six credits.
  • Have a high school diploma, GED, or pass an approved ability to benefit test.
  • Males ages 18-25 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Not be defaulted on a Federal or State student loan.
  • Make satisfactory academic progress toward achieving a degree.

    Undergraduate students applying for state grants must have all paperwork filed by April 15.
