The Department of Educational Leadership recently hired four new full-time faculty members: James Horn, Fernando Padro, Stephen Maio, and Kemoh Salia-Bao.

 

Dr. Horn has most recently been an assistant professor in the graduate school of education at Monmouth University. He sits on the editorial boards of the Journal of Content Area Reading and The Qualitative Report, and is on the board of directors of the Consortium for Research on Educational Accountability and Teacher Evaluation (CREATE). Prior to working in higher education, Dr. Horn was the Director of Library-Media Services for a large urban high school for almost fifteen years, where he also worked in the evening high school program for adult dropouts returning to school to earn a diploma.

 

Dr. Maio has worked in public education for over three decades as a teacher, counselor, principal and superintendent of schools. As superintendent, he served for 22 years in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, while teaching courses in educational administration at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.

 

Dr. Padro was most recently an associate professor in the graduate school of education at Monmouth University, with specializations in quantitative research methods, accreditation and quality management, and higher education. He is the author of the book Statistical Handbook on the Social Safety Net, associate editor of the International Journal of Learning, and secretary for the Education Division of the American Society for Quality.

 

Dr. Salia-Bao has most recently been a professor of education at Njala University, the University of Sierra Leone, where he taught psychology, philosophy of education, and curriculum theory and development, as well as created customized programs for multicultural, economically-challenged undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students. He also has been an international consultant for UNESCO, the World Bank, and governments of various countries.
