Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs, the Coordinator of Undergraduate Career Resources, located in Cambridge, MA, oversees and manages all aspects of the Career Resources Office including, but not limited to the development of job leads and employer relations, assisting students near graduation, and orienting new undergraduate students to Career Resources as they begin their study at Cambridge College. The position also creates scalable systems for growth of career resources across the College. This position is part time and grant-funded for the first year.
- Assist undergraduate students with career planning, exploration, and preparation for career placement.
- Deliver presentations to new and continuing students, graduates and alumni focused on Career Development and the services provided by Career Resources.
- Meet with students one-on-one to explore meaningful and purposeful careers and internships, explore graduate school, and develop resumes, cover letters, and job search strategies.
- Coach students to build their professional network by connecting them with employers as well as encouraging them to network independently.
- Ensure that incoming undergraduate students interact with Career Resources through in-class presentations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry professionals to learn about hiring needs and preferences both to better advise students and to develop new employment opportunities for students and graduates.
- Provide overview of Career Resources opportunities through presentations at Orientations and other student gatherings
- Build community involvement by attending outside job fairs, inviting employers to speak in classrooms, arranging on-campus presentations, and organizing job fairs
- Liaison with Alumni Affairs Director to provide networking and mentorship opportunities to current students
- Develop and lead programs on career-related topics and initiate and deliver career planning workshops.
- Research, create, and/or procure assessment tools and indexes to aid students in career exploration.
- Manage student resources-both traditional and electronic. This includes maintaining the Career Resources Web page and the internal student portal of job and internship opportunities, stocking and updating bulletin boards and stopping stations, and maintaining social media platforms as needed.
- Collect and analyze data of student engagement for reporting; coordinate with IPE to measure and track career placement and office effectiveness.
- Attend community networking events among area business professionals.
- Provide individualized assistance to employers seeking to maximize their recruiting efforts, including hosting their visits to campus.
- Collaborate with faculty and Academic Affairs to create programs and initiatives to respond to the career planning needs of students and to meet the recruiting needs of employers; explore and build career exposure linkages into upper-level undergraduate courses
- Structure internal cross functional efforts to optimize activities and supportive relationships, align them to the work of Career Resources, and raise awareness of the work internally throughout the College.
- Coordination with data management constituencies at the college such as Student Information Systems and Institutional Planning and Effectiveness in order to contribute to the College's overall emphasis on assessment
- Strategic Planning for department and participation in college-wide strategic planning efforts.
- Participate in NEASC visits and provide information and reports to the board and other committees when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in higher education administration, counseling, or related field preferred; experience working with a diverse population of traditional and non-traditional adult students; minimum of two years relevant experience and proven ability to build internal and external relationships with broad constituencies; a demonstrated commitment to student and employer service; advising, coaching, or counseling experience. The individual must be willing and able to attend and or lead events in the evening hours and some weekends as needed and should feel comfortable presenting to groups.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
The ideal candidate must have strong oral and written communication presentation skills and be able to communicate effectively. A strong comfort level working in a fast-paced, energetic environment, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining strategic perspective is expected. This person must also possess project management skills, an entrepreneurial orientation, and a strong proficiency in technology and information management.
