Educator Licensure Program Approval - Cambridge College programs preparing students for educator licensure are approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE), and are subject to its regulations and standards.
Licensure - General Information
Licensure - School Administration Information
Cambridge College graduate licensure programs prepare students to become licensed as teachers and school administrators. Students who successfully complete a licensure program will receive an endorsement on their transcript stating that the College "institutionally recommends" the student for licensure.
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) is the regulatory agency that grants educator licenses. This is an important distinction. Students who seek educator licensure must apply online at the ESE website (www.doemass.org).
Students can apply online for their license at any time. An educator license is granted by the ESE once they have completed all licensure requirements including successfully and passed the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL).
Students are responsible for sending their transcripts (undergraduate and graduate) to the ESE as part of their licensure application.
In addition to the College, the ESE is an important link in the professional career of educators. Students are advised to maintain a current awareness of changes in the profession through contact with the ESE.
As Massachusetts requirements for licensure change, the College reserves the right to alter the programs to better prepare students to meet new requirements.
