Licensure - General Information
Cambridge College Graduate Licensure Programs prepare students to become licensed as teachers and school administrators. Students who successfully complete a Licensure Program will receive an endorsement on their transcript stating that the College "institutionally recommends" the student for licensure.
The Massachusetts Department of Education (DOE) is the regulatory agency who grants educator licenses. This is an important distinction. Students who wish for a educator license must apply online at the DOE website (www.doe.mass.edu). Students can apply online for their license at any time. An educator license is granted by the DOE once the student has completed all licensure requirements including successfully passing the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL).
Students are responsible for sending their transcripts (undergraduate and graduate) to the DOE as part of their licensure application.
In addition to the College, the DOE as an important link in the professional career of educators. Students are advised to maintain a current awareness of changes in the profession through contact with the DOE.
As Massachusetts requirements for licensure change, the College reserves the right to alter the program to better prepare students to meet new requirements.
