POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Associate Director represents Cambridge College to prospective students and organizations and works to increase inquiries and convert applications into enrolled students. The Associate Director is responsible for training new admissions counselors on admissions office policies and best practices, supervising the School of Education admissions team, and assisting the Director of Admissions when needed.
The successful Associate Director counselor exhibits superior leadership, organization, problem solving and interpersonal skills. In addition, he/she must exhibit superior customer service skills and professionalism throughout daily interactions and communications with students including interviews, phone calls, emails and information sessions.
The Associate Director creates and implements recruitment strategies both individually and for the team to reach prospective students through events, referrals, online and print communications, and outreaches to businesses and organizations. The Associate Director must demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators and staff and serves as a liaison between prospective students and student service offices. A flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and some weekends is required. Travel, valid drivers license and access to a vehicle required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Supervise the School of Education and School of Psychology and Counseling admissions team.
- Provides leadership to the admissions team.
- Runs weekly staff meetings in absence of Director of Admissions.
- Responsible for updating the admissions counselor training manual and communicating updates to admissions team.
- Creates and implements individual and team recruitment plan.
- Tracks recruitment activities through weekly recruiter activity report.
- Assess individual performances and assist counselors with performance improvement plans.
- Conduct evaluations and reviews for admissions counselors
- Plan, manage, and execute campus wide events.
- Coordinate with the marketing development to produce advertisements and promotional material for the School of Education.
- Provide prospective applicants with information about academic programs, educator licensure, admissions requirements, and financial aid options.
- Develop and maintain networks with schools and organizations to promote the college and establish cohorts.
- Work as part of the team to help develop outreaches and information sessions, student referrals and professional networks.
- Ability to work on a registration deadline, strive toward college-wide enrollment goals and use outstanding customer service to recruit students to the Colleges programs.
- Develop and update a database of teachers, administrators, and contact people with whom workshops and information sessions can be booked. Network with new contacts to help increase inquiry production.
- Utilize phone, email, and mail to communicate with prospective students in a timely manner, providing superior student service.
- Work with prospective students to garner completed application files prior to enrollment and efforts to increase retention.
- Become familiar with working territory and demographics of cities/towns in that area to best reach the student population for Cambridge College.
- Collaborate with our growing alumni network to develop new student/professional networks, garner student referrals. Alumni are to be utilized at information sessions, outreaches, phoning etc.
- Attend training sessions to receive updated information about new programs, services, educator licensure requirements, etc.
- Under the direction of the Admissions Director, participate in the events prior, during, and after each term such as information sessions, orientations, registration events and graduation.
- Ability to work independently, and to arrange information sessions, set appointments and promote the College in a positive manner.
- Ability to follow the expectation of treating fellow employees, students and the institutions guests with civility, and to refrain from activities that disrupt the efficient functioning of the college.
- Ability to manage stress and work under pressure while multitasking under deadlines.
- Ability to supervise and be supervised, giving and accepting constructive criticism.
EXPERIENCE: Recruiting, management, sales, and/or knowledge of higher education strongly preferred; Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills; Well-developed presentation skills are required; Goal oriented and intrinsically motivated with superior customer service and networking skills; Facility with MS Office Suite and the Internet as a tool; Ability to manage student files and rosters via the Jenzabar system; Ability to build relationships with students and determine the correct program fit for students career and personal goals and follow them through the enrollment process; Experience working with adult population preferred; Professional attire and personal presentation required daily.
PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIRED:
The candidate is required to be mobile and occasionally lift and/or move to 15 pounds.
