POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Institutional Advancement will be a new position with responsibility for building a dynamic and successful alumni and friends annual giving program, including identifying, cultivating and soliciting donors and prospects. The successful Assistant Director will be passionate about Cambridge College and the opportunity to advance the Colleges mission. S/he will initiate new relationships on behalf of Cambridge College with alumni and other supporters and will be responsible for his/her own portfolio of significant donors. This position will also be responsible for the implementation of an alumni-based annual fund program, including developing volunteer leadership and creating strategic events that promote annual support and steward existing donors. A significant increase in alumni participation in the Annual Fund will be a primary goal.
In addition, s/he will help execute 1-2 College Advisory Board meetings as well as oversee the logistics for donor visits, prepare donor reports, and briefings for the VP of Institutional Advancement. Development research of existing and prospective donors also will be a key responsibility of this position.
Some travel, evening and weekend work will be required. This position has high growth potential and will be the right fit for a self-starting entrepreneurial development professional.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Design, implement, and monitor a program to develop annual, unrestricted support
- Manage own portfolio of donors
- Manage donor stewardship
- Develop and execute alumni engagement strategies
- Provide Advisory Board staffing and stewardship
- Support VP with prospect research, visit prep, and event support
- Manage logistics for donor visits with the President, Vice President and other senior leaders.
- Research potential donors and prepare prospect profiles
- Team player who will enhance collegial environment
- Keen attention to detail and ability to complete all responsibilities with integrity and accuracy
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Facilitate cross-departmental partnerships that may result in other areas of support
- Support events sponsored by the Office of Institutional Advancement that provide opportunities for cultivation as well as donor recognition, such as the annual scholarship luncheon
- Serve as a resource for program development and evaluation
- Participate in committees at the College, as necessary
- Other related duties and responsibilities, as necessary or required
QUALIFICATIONS: - Excellent communication and project management skills
- A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player
- High initiative, and ability to handle multiple tasks on a regular basis
- Resourceful, organized and detail oriented
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and development databases preferred
EXPERIENCE: - Bachelors degree with a minimum five years fundraising experience with demonstrated success in personally soliciting and securing gifts
- Outstanding collaboration, relationship building and communication skills
- Direct experience with annual fund/alumni(ae) giving preferred
- Experience managing and working with volunteer fundraising preferred
