POSITION SUMMARY: Working in collaboration with the Vice President and a variety of senior leaders and staff members, the Director of Institutional Support has primary responsibility for developing and responding to opportunities for funding from a diverse range of corporate, foundation, and government donors. The Director strengthens relationships with existing funders and initiates new ones to diversify the Colleges revenue sources while responding to the Colleges priority areas. Functions include grants research, proposal writing, grants management, relationship management, grant reporting, and creation of budgets, in cooperation with Finance and Program staff. The Director will leverage the time and relationships of the President, Provost and Board members, while working closely with Deans and faculty to encourage their participation in the grant application, proposal, and reporting process. The Director will also supervise the development associate who supports institutional giving. Some travel, evening and weekend work may be required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Develop and write grant proposals, renewals and reports that are compelling, clear, concise and complete, while adhering to deadlines.
- Annually, create, implement, and monitor a grants plan to address the financial targets proposed in the budget and strategic plan. Provide the Vice President with regular reports on progress.
- Identify, develop and manage relationships with corporate and foundation funders whose interests align with the mission of the College and its academic and programmatic expertise.
- Identify, develop and manage relationships with federal, state and other government funding sources.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for grants development, management and reporting, with special emphasis on ensuring a flow of information between departments.
- Plan and implement site visits of prospective and current funders.
- Attend information sessions, RFP meetings, or fact-finding missions to interact with program managers and potential collaborating institutions.
- Supervise Development Associate who will assist with prospect research, grants tracking, reporting, acknowledgements and stewardship of funders.
- Maintain close working relationships with the Office of Financial Aid on the Colleges annual and endowed scholarships to support fiduciary compliance.
- Stay current with evolving areas of funding and interest within the field, such as institutional strengthening, adult education, minority and immigrant training, teacher training, and others.
- Behavioral requirement of treating fellow employees, students, and the institutions guests with civility, and to refrains from actions that disrupt the efficient functioning of the college
- Ability to supervise and be supervised, giving and accepting constructive criticism and complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Collaborate with other members of the Office of Institutional Advancement to highlight funding relationships and collaborations through print and online media.
- Facilitate partnerships that may result in other areas of supportin-kind, enrollment, etc.across the College.
- Coordinate and/or support events sponsored by the Office of Institutional Advancement, such as the annual scholarship luncheon.
- Serve as a resource for program development and evaluation.
- Participate in committees at the College and Board level, as necessary.
- Other related duties and responsibilities, as necessary or required.


QUALIFICATIONS: - At least five years of successful experience working with corporate, foundation and government grant makers in an educational setting.
- Experience with program development, program management, and evaluation.
- Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.
- Supervisory experience


EXPERIENCE: - Particularly well versed and successful with corporate, foundation and government funding.
- Outstanding relationship skills, writing, and researching and communication skills;
- A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.
- Resourceful, organized and detail oriented.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and development databases.

Minimal physical effort is required for this position.


SALARY: Commensurate with position
