COORDINATOR MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING PROGRAMS
School of Psychology and Counseling

POSITION SUMMARY: This is a full-time position, reporting to the Dean of the School of Psychology and Counseling. The Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, supervising, and updating all Mental Health Counseling programs, including the following:

-Licensed Mental Health Counseling 62 credits
-Counseling Psychology 36 credits
-Psychological Studies 36 credits
-Certificate for Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS-CP)
-Practicum/Internships
-Marriage and Family Therapy

During this contract period, the Coordinators teaching load will be governed by the requirements of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (See Article XXIII, Section 1: Full-time Workload). Based on the nature and structure of the School and its programs, the teaching responsibilities will be at the Graduate level, and will be determined by the Dean of SOPC. Performance in both teaching and institutional service will be reviewed annually.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Coordinator is expected to participate fully in departmental and institutional activities including meetings, planning days, student orientations, graduation and departmental projects, and assisting and marketing and publicizing of the program to potential students as outlined in the faculty contract.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following duties:

-Teach not more than 24 credit hours per academic year
-Serve as Coordinator of all the programs listed above
-Prepare new program materials as indicated
-Attend School of Psychology and Counseling Orientations
-Attend Program Information Nights
-Attend Meetings with students needing advising
-Attend New Faculty Orientation
-Attend Academic Council meetings
-Attend Faculty Forum
-Attend Faculty Planning Day
-Attend Community events
-Attend School of Psychology and Counseling Faculty meetings
-Attend weekly School of Psychology and Counseling Coordinator meetings
-Work on new program development with other mental health settings as deemed appropriate
-Other duties as assigned



QUALIFICATIONS: The Coordinator requires a licensed Mental Health Counselor who also has a Marriage and Family Therapy license, both licensures being current in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In addition, the Coordinator should have 10+ years of clinical supervision and teaching experience, should be a seasoned clinician in order to understand the experience of interns placed at clinical sites, should have the demeanor and temperament to work under pressure with adult learners. The candidate should be available to work evenings and weekends and to meet with students up to 8 pm regularly. Teaching and advising must be done in the evenings and weekends. The candidate should be experienced in clinical program development, and should be familiar with academic settings. Strong writing skills are essential. Evidence will be required of the ability to communicate effectively with credentialing boards and agencies.

SALARY: Commensurate with the position and qualifications of the candidate.
