COORDINATOR OF STUDENT ACCOUNTS COLLECTIONS
OFFICE OF THE BURSAR

GENERAL STATEMENT: Reporting to the Bursar, this full-time, mid-level administrative position is responsible for the collection of outstanding student account balances owed to the College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -Facilitate the collection of tuition and fees by working with active and inactive students who have difficulty making payments which may require collaboration with the Financial Aid Office.
-Perform research in response to inquiries and concerns regarding student financial matters.
-Create and maintain student files, relative to the collection process.
-Ensure timely follow up of cash receipts and payment promises.
-Prepare or coordinate reports measuring accounts receivable levels.
-Telephone and written correspondence with students.
-Process final demand letters.
-Establish good working relationship with collection agencies and meet with them quarterly to discuss relevant business issues.
-Monitor student holds in Jenzabar and make recommendations as to changes and improvements.
-Process payment plans for students with prior balances (AMS).
-Review monthly statement for past due students and accuracy.
-Works at off-campus locations.
-Related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS: Associates Degree in a related field required; Bachelors degree preferred;
Minimum 3 years of collection experience or an appropriate combination of education and work experience required; Collection experience in higher education highly desired; Demonstrated knowledge of computerized billing systems; MS Office Suite experience required; Knowledge of Jenzabar (student billing system) and PowerFAIDS (student financial aid system) preferred; Some data entry experience required; Experience that demonstrates customer service orientation and the ability to work as a highly motivated team member required; Must have the ability to effectively organize and establish priorities; Must have excellent communication, negotiation, and problem solving skills; Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills required.
