ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL AID

POSITION SUMMARY: This full-time administrative position reports to the Director of Financial Aid. The Assistant Director works with the Director in maintaining the Financial Aid Office by supervising financial aid staff members, assisting in coordinating office procedures, and assisting in ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations. Assist with the overall administration of federal, state and institutional aid programs for the College new and continuing students. Some nights and weekends required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -Prepare and award financial aid packages to an assigned student caseload.
-Perform verification according to the federal methodology.
-Counsel students in all aspects of the financial aid process.
-Supervise and participate in the hiring and performance evaluation of office staff.
-Manage and coordinate the FFELP and Private Loan programs including certification, disbursement, and reconciliation.
-Serves as backup for the Pell Grant Program.
-Works with and assists the off site campus Directors with their needs regarding financial aid.
-Manages the department in the absence of the Director.
-Other duties as assigned by the Director.


QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred; At least 3-5 years of progressive administrative experience in a financial aid office; Prior supervisory experience required; Experience managing FFELP; Experience with COD and CPS; Detail oriented; Strong oral and written communication skills; Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other staff members; Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities effectively; Train new staff members in the financial aid process; Knowledge of federal and state regulations; Computer facility, including MS Word and Excel required; Experience with PowerFaids, ASA Direct, and ELM preferred.

SALARY: Commensurate with the position and qualifications of the candidate.
